Kelly Rae Roberts is an artist, author, and describes herself as a possibilitarian. Much like Kelly Rae's own spirit, her work expresses honesty and tenderness, while remaining lighthearted and colorful. Speaking to her audience, she writes, "My hope is that my work invokes a sense of clarity and peace within you as you walk your own path in life, and that it inspires you to discover your own limitlessness."
She is a mixed-media artist who unexpectedly discovered her passion at the age of 30 after a lifetime of ignoring her dream to become an artist. She grew up in Florida and went to college at Florida State where she earned a master's degree in social work. She met her husband in 1999, and they set off to begin a life together in Portland, Oregon where Kelly worked for many years as a medical social worker. Eventually, Kelly decided to take up running, which mysteriously led her to discovering the confidence and passion to pursue her longtime dream of becoming an artist.
Since discovering her passion, Kelly Rae built a broad online following, written a best-selling book, been featured in multiple publications, mentored thousands of artists through her popular blog and e-courses, and launched wildly successful gift and home decor collections through her licensing deals.
In essence, she seeks to express a sense of vitality and connectedness in her paintings and writings. Having spent most of her life in the company of women, her pieces grow out of the kindred support she has felt from many of them throughout her life. She is unendingly grateful for the spirits of these women who walk with her, in flesh or in paint, on her incredible journey into art, love and life.
Lisa states, “The creative process starts with the idea...then a concept emerges, which is then expressed onto canvas, wood, or paper. Bits of paper make their way onto the surface as do paint and crayon strokes. Incorporating a variety of mediums into each piece adds a wonderful spontaneous element to my work.
